Chapter 1: How to measure your wrist and bracelet size (circumference)
Before we get started you’ll need a measuring tape and perhaps a friend to make the process easier.
If you don’t have a measuring tape you can use a piece of string or a piece of paper and measure it with a rule or iphone measure app. Skip to content.
You want to use the measuring tape that tailors use for sewing.
They look like this:
They are cheap and easy to use. Measuring your wrist size is just 3 easy steps.
- Place your hand so the palm is facing upwards with your hand open
- Wrap your measuring tape around your wrist
- Read the size on the measuring tape, preferably in inches or centimeter’s

How to measure wrist: step by step process with pictures
1. Place your hand so the palm is facing upwards
Place your hand pointing up and open your hand
Make sure you don’t point your palm downwards or close your hand otherwise your measurement will be smaller than the actual size of your wrist.
2. Wrap your measuring tape around your wrist
Make sure the end of the measuring tape is in the middle of your wrist so you can easily read the number.
You might be asking:
“How high up from my wrist should I place the tape?”
If you are measuring for a watch, then above the wrist bone.
For bracelets we recommend you let them sit between the wrist bone and the hand.
If you want a loose fighting bracelet then the size is less important.
As a rule of thumb (or wrist 😉) you want to put the tape just above your wrist bone with 1-2 centimetres of space (towards your elbow. This is the small section of your wrist.
For a watch I would add 1 cm or ¼ to ½ inch so the metal watch bracelet is not too tight.
Mostly rubber and nato strap watch bands are adjustable.
3. Read the size on the measuring tape, preferably in inches or centimeters
Make sure the tape is tight but not pitching the skin. You want the fit to be snug. Then read the number on the tape. That is your wrist measurement!
Read the number on the tape
You want to add 1.25 centimeter’s or ½ inch to your number so the bracelet fit is not too tight.
Now you can refer to the bracelet size chart and table in the next chapter to check your bangle size.
How to measure wrist size without tape
If you don’t have measuring tape for any of these guides, you can use a piece of paper as shown in the video below:
Simply wrap the paper around your wrist and mark with a pen where the end of paper meets.
Then measure the paper alongside the ruler.
If you don’t have a ruler you can measure the paper using the Measure App on your iphone.
Simply open the app and point it at the paper and the app will measure the paper in CMS.
